Position Overview

We are looking for a results-oriented Brokerage Sales Manager to lead and direct the sales activities of the Freight Brokerage Department. This position is highly instrumental in driving top-line growth, forging strategic relationships, and managing a team of sales professionals in providing best-in-class freight solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of the logistics and freight brokerage industry, a proven track record of meeting sales goals, and strong leadership to inspire their team while fostering long-term client relationships.

The Sales Manager should be strategic in a hands-on capacity, at the helm in making decisions using data to drive performance improvement and help carve out the path for the organization in terms of its vision about operational excellence. The role will be working closely with a cross-functional team to deliver customer demands, optimize networks of carriers, and maintain compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to achieve and exceed revenue and profitability goals.

  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of high-achieving sales representatives to continue growing and succeeding.

  • Foster a positive, collaborative team environment that motivates employees to deliver their best work.

Client Acquisition and Relationship Management

  • Pursue new business opportunities for company growth in the customer base through outreach to shippers, manufacturers, and other freight stakeholders.

  • Meet the customers' requirements with freight solutions to maintain good relationships with clients.

  • Serve as a contact for key, high-value clients to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty through the provision of exemplary service.

Strategic Planning

  • Conduct market research to determine emerging trends, competitive activity, and client demands.

  • Assist the senior management in developing long-term sales plans in line with the company's mission and growth objectives.

  • Design and execute customer retention strategies to ensure repeat business and profitability.

Performance Tracking

  • Track individual and team performance using KPIs like revenue growth, customer acquisition, and retention.

  • Analyze sales metrics for the purpose of highlighting areas for improvement and further growth opportunities.

  • Present updates on regular performance to senior leadership, supplemented with actionable recommendations for improvement.

Operational Collaboration

  • Liaise with the operations team for seamless communication at the sales, dispatch, and logistics levels.

  • Coordinate with the procurement teams and carriers for strategy formulation towards carrier capacity utilization/optimization to ensure price competitiveness.

  • Collaborate with the marketing department for promotional materials, campaigns, events, and communications that support business development efforts and sales.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Comply with corporate guidelines on all sales activity, industry-related regulations, and client-specific guidelines.

  • Record customer interactions, agreements, and performance metrics accurately in the company CRM system.

  • Write detailed reports on sales activities, market trends, and forecasts to a level that informs strategic decisions.

Job Requirements
  • Education and Experience

    Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Logistics, or a related field (preferred).

    Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in sales within the freight brokerage, transportation, or logistics industry.

    Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a competitive environment.

  • Skills and Competencies

    Strong understanding of freight brokerage operations, including carrier networks, load boards, and customer engagement.

    Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

    Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and implement effective sales strategies.

    Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and logistics management systems.

  • Leadership and Teamwork

    Ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.

    Strong conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills, ensuring smooth operations and client satisfaction.

    Flexibility to adapt to the fast-paced and dynamic nature of the freight industry.

  • Additional Requirements

    Availability for occasional travel to meet with clients, remote employees, and to participate in training sessions.

    Knowledge of industry regulations, compliance standards, and emerging logistics technologies.
