From August 24 to 30, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) will conduct its annual Brake Safety Week across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
This year, the spotlight is on brake drums and rotors - key components of vehicle braking systems.
Defective brake components can:
Reduce braking efficiency
Break off while driving
Lead to accidents, breakdowns, and shipment delays
Any truck with serious violations will be immediately placed out of service until the issues are resolved.
During Brake Safety Week, CVSA inspectors will:
Check complete brake systems and related components
Use Performance-Based Brake Testers (PBBT) in designated areas
Record and submit inspection results to the CVSA database
Host educational sessions for drivers and maintenance personnel
For shippers, freight brokers, and logistics teams, Brake Safety Week is more than a regulatory event - it’s a transparency tool:
Trust filter - helps identify carriers who invest in proper maintenance
Red flag alert - reveals fleets with repeated safety violations
Data-driven decisions - lets you choose carriers based on real inspection results, not just claims
At NTP Freight, we don’t just move freight - we vet every carrier we work with:
Exclude carriers who fail critical safety checks
Prioritize partnerships with fleets that maintain high safety standards
Ensure your shipments are transported with well-maintained equipment
The result? Your cargo is moved reliably - not based on chance.
Brake Safety Week is an opportunity to clean up the freight market - and we use it to your advantage. Our clients enjoy:
Enhanced safety and reduced risk of incidents
Fewer delays and disruptions
Lower exposure to liability and claims
Brake Safety Week is not just about inspections - it’s about making the logistics industry safer, more transparent, and more accountable.
At NTP Freight, we use this safety data to ensure that every load is handled by a trustworthy carrier.
Because in logistics, trust shouldn't just be promised - it should be proven.
